Yeah Yeah.. I know.. “Kids movie”..!
but once in a while I like to bring out the kid in me.. and there are very few Indian animation films which help me do that successfully now-a-days.
So tried “Delhi Safari” animation film directed by Nikhil Advani and voila! Turned out to be uber cool!
It’s the first Indian 3D animation film that’s “Madagascar-isque”… I mean not just the animation but the characters are well-written, the humor is genuine and the voice-overs are so fantastic that I would have enjoyed it even without the message it delivers.
There’s a part where 2D animation is also used and a song plays in the background called “Nai Bhai Nai”. This song is cleverly written and it delivers a very good message without being preachy. Although I do have to mention that there are a few uninteresting “filler” songs especially the one the film starts off with (well may be not so boring for the kids though) but as soon as the story picks up, you would be pleasantly surprised.
All the characters are deliciously played out but the ones that totally left me in splits are “Govinda” as Bajrangi, a Bhojpuri monkey and “Akshay Khanna” as Alex the parrot who lives with a director called Vikram.
“Delhi Safari” is a movie made with a lot of heart and it shows.. especially in that superbly animated action set-piece involving a swarm of angry bees chasing our protagonists in an underground rail road.
The movie ends with a filmy speech but that too is well done and wrapped up quickly.
And here’s the best part of the movie: IT WAS ACTUALLY FUNNY! :D
So do check out this movie with your friends & family and have a blast! :)
